Advances in information technology and computer science during recent years have been tremendous. People’s day-to-day lives are increasingly influenced by work at this exciting frontier. With a MSc in Computer Science, the door is open to some of the most challenging and interesting jobs in this field.
Overview
This is a graduate (Master) course and the degree conferred at completion of studies is Master of Science in Computer Science (M.Sc).
This study program gives a broad foundation within the field of computer science. Topics you will encounter during the study include computer security, wireless communication, semantic technology, autonomic computing, modelling and simulation, and distributed systems.

Course Details
The programme utilizes lectures, and activities such as individual projects, group projects, laboratory exercises with written reports, and company and industrial plant visits as learning methods. There is a high degree of individual advisory in the programme – especially with regards to the Master thesis at the end.
The duration of the course is spread over 2 Years (4 semesters). Per semester 60 ECTS are awarded.

Costs and Funding
University of Stavanger charges no tuition for this master course. However, you’ll be required to pay a small semester fee to be determined by the university on enrolment.
Academic Requirements
In order to be eligible for Master’s programmes in Norway, you need to document a Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years. Depending on where you completed upper secondary education, you may be required to have more than three years of university education.
